Before Chip can leave, after finding nothing wrong, Kisha confesses to making a deal with the devil for a pair of shoes. Chip tells Kisha she is screwed and invites Malcolm to join his wrestling group. After Chip leaves, Kisha shows Malcolm a video of her eighth birthday, in which she began to experience paranormal activity by her imaginary friend, Tony. The next night, Kisha gets out of bed in the middle of the night, stands by the bed for several hours, and begins to dance. Malcolm wakes up and follows Kisha to the kitchen, where he catches her eating uncooked food and drinking old milk.
Family-Friendly Haunted Houses in Los Angeles
They realize a song has been playing the whole time, "Owner of a Lonely Heart," by Yes. At the start of each loop, Brandon turns the music down with a remote pointing toward a small room hidden behind the dresser in his bedroom. Inside, Crystal and Edwin stumble upon a bunch of surveillance equipment, Brandon was watching his family all the time. By the time the trio arrives at the house (Niko respectfully bows out, still recovering from the trauma of her own near-death experience), they notice it has been blocked off and prepped for demolition slated for the following morning.
House on Haunted Hill
The haunted house is one of horror’s most time-honored tropes, a dark twisting of the place we call home into a maelstrom of terror and things that go bump in the night. There’s something eternal about the idea, so it’s no wonder that hundreds upon hundreds of filmmakers have channeled it for dark visions of their own. There are, of course, dozens of classics in the genre on the big-screen, but if you’re looking for the very best to dive into this Halloween season, these are the ones you definitely won’t want to miss. We might be stretching the definition of “haunted house movie“ here a little bit, as the entity in Sinister is more demon than ghost. But director/co-writer Scott Derrickson’s film is so good that we’re ignoring that and getting right to the good stuff. Unbelievably tense and full of great, gruesome detail, Sinister is the kind of haunted house movie that will make you think twice about every corner of your own home, especially if you just moved there.

Lance and David propose that everyone stay in their rooms and shoot anyone who enters to survive the night. Thus the innocents will have no reason to leave their rooms (and a good reason to stay inside them) and the killer must stay put or admit guilt. In today’s flourishing experience economy, we push ourselves to continue innovating and bringing new events to market. Special events such as Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns, Delusion, Otherworld Philadelphia, Battleground, Krampus, and Love Bites bring unique experiences to our guests all across the country. A bear that appeared in the middle of the city is kidnapping people's pets.
His girlfriend lived in Aliso Village, and Pena recalled Saenz saying he was tired of the gang “disrespecting” him whenever he visited. The poster for the film included an illustration of a house in yet a third style, that of a fanciful four-story Romanesque structure. Annabelle privately warns Lance that her husband is scheming something and that she suspects him of murdering his second and third wives after his first wife disappeared.

Spirits of the undead leftover from a gruesome past populate the century-and-a-half-old mansion turned haunted museum. You can fully explore the manor for as long as you can stand it before and after the show. Dark Harvest is an interactive and fully immersive haunted house and haunted maze designed to terrify you out of your skin with a new theme each year. The spirit of Halloween spreads across the village, and the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride accompanies a haunted house in the mortuary. Far from those kid-friendly rides through a pumpkin patch, this hayride unleashes all sorts of demons and bogeys on Griffith Park. Like so many pop culture horror experiences recently, this year’s Haunted Hayride once again rewinds the action to the mid-’80s in the ficticious town of Midnight Falls.
Common symptoms of hauntings, like cold spots and creaking or knocking sounds, can be found in most homes regardless of suspected paranormal presences. People are more likely to experience a haunting when they are about to fall asleep, when waking, or if they are intoxicated or sleep-deprived. Carbon monoxide poisoning has been cited as a cause of suspected hauntings. If there is an expectation of a preternatural encounter, it is more likely that one will be perceived or reported. Its past installments have found attendees stealthing their way through a Victorian home and embarking on a Blade Runner-esque bounty hunt.

Be sure to watch out for SharkMan in this maze experience that should take guests roughly 5 minutes to get through. This is an excellent option for family fun in the city of Burbank. However, please note that guests cannot wear Halloween costumes or make-up at this event. If you’re in the Santa Clarita area and are a fan of all things haunted, you may be familiar with The Darm Realm, Restless Souls Manor, and The Farm, all iconic home haunts in the area for several years in their own rights. Also, watch out for nightly performances by Monte Revolta, the undead irreverent lounge singer from beyond the grave.
Watson remains convinced the house is haunted, with David and Annabelle now added to its ranks of ghosts, and that he will be the next victim. Guillermo del Toro is one of horror’s great visual stylists, but even by his standards, Crimson Peak is truly stunning. A classic Gothic romance full of decay, sensuality, and ghosts, it’s a film that feels like stepping into another world, a meditation on certain well-worn tropes that somehow emerges as something entirely new.
To this day, A Tale of Two Sisters remains the highest-grossing horror film in its native South Korea. Originally released as a supposedly real BBC television special, Ghostwatch is best remembered now for the sheer terror it inspired in viewers on Halloween night in 1992, but it’s so much more than that. Yes, Ghostwatch is a fascinating cultural artifact within the mockumentary subgenre.
As a long-time animation producer for "The Simpsons" (among other shows), he went all out. James Wan’s franchise-launching film is among the most successful, and most frightening, horror movies of the 2010s, and still looms large in a horror landscape that’s since moved through many sequels and spinoffs. Wan’s ability to wring maximum screams out of a good jump scare is, of course, legendary at this point. And while there’s no shortage of that kind of terror in The Conjuring, it’s the human struggle at its core that will keep you hooked. In 2021, the Rhode Island home that inspired the film hit the market for $1.2 million. In a majority of cases, upon scientific investigation, alternative causes to supernatural phenomenon are found to be at fault, such as hoaxes, environmental effects, hallucinations or confirmation biases.
Just before the wraith can nab them, they successfully break the loop and escape the house with Charles in tow, all before Death shows up to take the ghosts to their respective afterlives. The trio watches the house light up from a safe distance away as Death performs her duties. Death has been chasing after Charles and Edwin for years due to them avoiding their own afterlives, hence why it's important they hide from her. After spending the first two episodes establishing the show's case-of-the-week vibe, this episode starts letting relationships develop between characters and provides us with some backstory for Charles. We also start to learn a little more about the inner workings of the afterlife and the foreboding Night Nurse coming for Charles and Edwin. Charged with murdering Ponce and Hernandez, Pena pleaded guilty and was sent to the California Youth Authority.
Frederick is convinced Annabelle tried to poison him to acquire his wealth, which Annabelle somewhat evasively denies, attributing his suspicions to paranoia and jealousy. Watson believes the house is genuinely haunted by the ghosts of those murdered there, including his own brother; he claims to have spent one night there before and "was almost dead" when found the next morning. He gives a tour of the house, including a vat of acid in the basement, which a previous resident used to kill his wife.
When they all meet in the living room, Kisha behaves very strangely and flees to the basement. When Malcolm reaches for her, she attacks him, and the whole group beats her up, apparently forcing the ghost out of her body. On another night, Kisha urges Malcolm to investigate a noise, but it turns out to be Rosa, his Hispanic housekeeper. Rosa quits, and Malcolm and Kisha smoke marijuana with the ghost to relieve their pain. The next day, Malcolm's friend Steve and his girlfriend Jenny bring over a ouija board to communicate with the ghost.
His strong emotional tie to the case pulls him into the time loop, leaving Crystal and Edwin alone to solve the case before the entire Devlin family, and now Charles, are wiped away forever. During their exploration of the house, Charles and Crystal find a diary belonging to one of Brandon's daughters in which she details her father's domineering nature and constant surveillance. He always seems to know everything she's doing at any given moment. Reading her words makes Charles recall what life was like for him as a child, also living with an abusive father. Not only does he check in on his parents via mirror to see them, but to ensure his father isn't hurting his mother. In actuality, the "letter" is an acceptance from Hudson University (since is the DC Universe, I think we can assume it's the same Hudson University in New York once attended by Dick Grayson).
Kim Jee-woon’s A Tale of Two Sisters is an unforgettable exercise in psychological terror for a number of reasons, but among the most striking is the way the filmmaker convinces you more than once that he’s switching genres. For a huge chunk of the runtime, the film might just be a gripping psychological drama with a few haunted house flourishes for the sake of symbolism. But by the time it’s over, and you realize it was a haunted house film all along, you realized that the ghosts of this film are all the more potent, and all the more horrifying.
